Orlando's MLK Day Parade Returns Downtown
Downtown Orlando will burst with energy as the 2025 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade fills the streets this Saturday, January 18, from 10 AM to 1 PM.
Marching bands, colorful floats, and community groups will journey from the Downtown Courthouse to Lake Eola Park, embodying this year's theme: "Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence 365."
The celebration invites everyone to honor Dr. King's enduring legacy of peaceful resistance and social change through sponsorships, vendor opportunities, or direct participation.
Against Orlando's modern skyline, the parade promises to bridge past and present.
From Frost to Hope: Apopka's Food Ministry Legacy
When winter freezes devastated Apopka's orange groves in the 1980s, something beautiful bloomed from the crisis.
Local churches joined hands to create Loaves and Fishes, a warm-hearted food ministry that's been feeding neighbors in need for over 40 years. What started with humble bags of rice now brightens the lives of 300 community members each week, from seniors on fixed incomes to folks without homes.
Thanks to 75 caring volunteers and generous local support, weekly food packages and daily lunches keep flowing – even through COVID-19's challenges.
Four days a week, this special place shows how a community's love can transform hardship into hope.

Parramore's Digital Dawn as City Launches Free Wi-Fi Initiative
In an exciting move to connect communities, Orlando is bringing free Wi-Fi to the heart of historic Parramore, where many families have gone without internet access.
The neighborhood will soon be dotted with two dozen Wi-Fi hotspots, creating a web of connectivity that residents can tap into just steps from their front doors.
City leaders were ready to greenlight the first phase with $123,000 in planning funds, part of Orlando's $58 million share of federal aid AKA Accelerate Orlando.
Better yet, the city is bringing back its popular hotspot lending program, making sure everyone in this vibrant community can get online – regardless of their budget.
